FREE Membership of the East Riding Association of Governing Bodies
Are you a governor at an East Riding school? If so you will be interested to know that as a direct result of our huge success over the past three years and the associated additional income derived from the sale of consultancy services, it was decided at the AGM of the Association that there would be no membership fees for 2008/9.
Consequently, all East Riding governing bodies now automatically become members of ERAGB for the coming year unless they choose to opt out.
Your Chair of Governors has been asked to put on the agenda of your Spring term meeting an item “To appoint a representative of the governing body to ERAGB.
ERAGB is recognised by the Local Authority as the only collective and independent voice of school governing bodies in the East Riding and our representatives meet the Director and Senior Officers on at least 3 occasions each year when matters of interest or concern to governors are discussed in a cooperative and positive atmosphere based on trust and understanding
The Association is now firmly established and is recognised for its provision of a first-class service to its members, especially through regular information services and its publications. The latter include the governors’ self-assessment document ‘Are We Doing What We’re Supposed To Be Doing?’ and the ‘Information and Guide for New Governors of Schools in the East Riding’ . These were so highly rated by the Local Authority that it arranged for their printing and distribution to all governors throughout the East Riding. (Have you receive your copy?) your chair of governors will also have received copies of the first two papers of our next publication, an Every Child Matters resource pack which will help governors ensure they are meeting their duty to ‘promote the wellbeing of pupils’ as required by the Education and Inspections Act 2006. Without ERAGB, none of these publications would exist.
ERAGB looks forward to working with all governing bodies within the East Riding for the benefit of the education of the children and young people in our schools.
